I set out to draw an abstract figure today, with the figure barely recognizable. But about half way through, I decided to just go with the figure because I could see a feeling emerging. I’d drawn 3 extra arms... one expressing fear but the other two embracing the figure. Then I looked at it for awhile, could see the possibility of adding a head to the embracing arms, creating a 2nd figure... more of a spirit figure.. Now looking back at it, I see the pose is fetal, and why I kept needing to keep her enclosed, protected. Conte sticks, 18x24".
