I've been working on this for the last couple weeks also... I'm experimenting with the same scratchy style, but softer focus yet - using colored pencils. This is from a 20 year old photo of Gretchen and me at a Brazilian restaurant somewhere in or around Santa Monica... we were under a red awning and amazing warm light was streaming in on us. I'm pretty happy with this effect. I'd just like to achieve more intense color in this same style. But I like this.
