In the last couple weeks I decided I’d like to really focus and experiment more with abstract composition. I came across a great online course by Jane Davies, and seemed her approach to art making is exactly what I’ve been trying to achieve. So I began a course in which you experiment with composition extremes: simplifying, adding, eliminating, to watch the composition fall apart, and then experiment in bringing it back together, paying close attention throughout the entire process.
Here are a couple black and white, based only on squares. I painted some with ink, acrylic paint, outlined and scribbled over cut-out squares.
This next one is collage with pieces from granulated watercolors. I haven’t worked so geometrically for many many years, and it feels so great! I love the clean lines and simplicity.
