Spring in Central Park, 14×18″, 2017
I go out to Central Park every morning so my dogs can run freely during off-leash before 9am. As a past SoCal hiker, I tend to want to wander off the pedestrian paths to feel actual earth under my feet. I let my dogs take the lead and follow behind as they run enthusiastically almost in a euphoric state. Once we’ve circled the Conservatory Waters, or more commonly known as the sailboat pond, we climb up the side of this hill to this magical hilltop with these trees arranged in an almost perfect circle. In Spring the ground up here becomes almost entirely covered with pink blossoms and with the cool shadows has such magic that at moments feels almost like some ancient sacred circle.
